Традиционный метод борьбы с ожирением - бег трусцой по городским улицам, от которого портится кожа и обвисает грудь. В-четвертых, американские стандарты красоты несколько отличаются от мировых. Например, здесь очень большое значение придается размеру груди, поэтому многие вставляют силиконовые протезы, что на меня, например, производит обратный эффект. Ну, и в-пятых, Америка - молодая страна, нравы тут гораздо проще, чем в Европе, особенно в провинции (а провинция - это вся Америка, кроме Нью-Йорка, Сан-Франциско и университетских городков), и утонченный вкус пока не относится к числу местных достоинств.

Тем не менее красивые девушки тут все же встречаются, благо полно иммигрантов, людей смешанного происхождения (а они обычно красивее чистокровных), и просто красивых от природы, которых не испортишь ни бесвкусной одеждой, ни макдональдскими бутербродами.

May be by these steps it is trying to become a new player in world politics, or may be it is trying to protect its national inetersts? why so many local conflicts in the world have not caused so much resonance? Of course I am not fully agree with the Russian political steps but I also suggest that georgian president is not an adequate to be such. And the confrontation detonated due to his violate actions. Hard to say may be my view is mostly formed based on russian mass media information. Opinion presented here is only my private opinion.

Миф: Соединенные Штаты одержимы навязыванием всему миру своей "культуры" (которая на самом деле не культура, а всякий отстой типа Макдональдсов и голливудских боевиков) и демократии (которая на самом деле не демократия, а прикрытие для воровства нефти). Ради этого они то и дело вторгаются куда ни попадя, разбомбили в хлам братскую Сербию (которая родная сестра и лучший друг России) и вломились в Ирак. Разумеется, их главная задача - захватить гордую Россию, последний очаг непреклонного сопротивления культуре и демократии. ЦРУ все ближе подбирается к сердцу земли русской: за огромные деньги поставило своих марионеток у власти на Украине и в Грузии, силой впаивает членство в НАТО и шпионские радары Прибалтике и братьям-славянам, и даже в самой России финансирует всякие подрывные НГО, готовясь утопить Русь в пучине "оранжевой революции".
Почему страны, имеющие удовольствие граничить с Россией, все как одна рвутся в НАТО, понятно: Россия - единственная серьезная угроза миру и стабильности в Европе. Из всех европейских стран только Россия позволяет себе топливный шантаж, политические убийства (в том числе попытку убийства кандидата в президенты, осмелившегося пообещать проводить независимую от Кремля политику), дестабилизацию соседних стран путем создания про-российских анклавов (как известно, всех граждан Абхазии и Южной Осетии снабдили российским гражданством), внезапные истерики по надуманным поводам вроде переноса памятников и прочие шалости в стиле холодной войны.

События на Украине российскими СМИ вообще освещались, мягко говоря, неадекватно. Мне очень трудно поверить, что миллионы людей, участвовавшие в революции, состояли на ставке у ЦРУ. ЦРУ сейчас занимается совсем другими вещами.

В России не понимают, до какой степени российские дела до лампочки Соединенным Штатам. Раньше знание русского было преимуществом при устройстве на работу в ЦРУ - сейчас требуются исключительно арабский и фарси. Все, что Штатам от России нужно - это чтобы нефть выкачивалась, ядерными технологиями не торговали и голода не было (денег на помощь еще и России сейчас точно ни у кого нет). Голод России не грозит, по крайней мере до очередного дефолта или падения цен на нефть. Чем там торгуют с Ираном, я не очень в курсе, но надеюсь, что мозгов все-таки хватает не снабжать атомными бомбами собственных соседей, да еще со склонностью к религиозным заскокам. Природные ресурсы из России сейчас выкачивают так лихо, как никакой оккупационной администрации ни в жисть не удалось бы - думаю, что и США, и особенно Китай российским правительством полностью довольны.

Так что россияне могут спать спокойно: никто вам насильно свободу и демократию устанавливать не будет и "оранжевой революции" на халяву не организует. Не бойтесь.

American Councils has started testing for the FLEX program, which gives Kazakhstani high school students the opportunity to study for a year in the United States at no cost to them. Since the program began in 1992, more than 17,000 high school students from Eurasia have received scholarships to participate in the FLEX program. This program is fully funded by the government of the United States of America, through the U.S. Department of State. Our organization, American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS, administers the FLEX program annually in Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.

As program participants, students will live in American families and study at American high schools for one academic year. This program gives students a unique opportunity to learn more about American culture and spread information about their own cultures in their host communities in the U.S.

All high school students who meet the requirements of the program are invited to participate in the competition. FLEX program requirements are as follows:
• Be a citizen of Kazakhstan;
• Born between 1 January, 1992 and 15 July, 1994;
• Currently studying in 9th or 10th grades or first-year students of colleges who entered following 9th grade;
• Have not lived in the U.S. for more than 3 months in the last 5 years and their parents have not applied or made plans to immigrate to the U.S. (including applying for the “green card lottery”);
• Be in good academic standing with their local school;
• Have a good knowledge of English, including conversational skills

The program is also open to high school students with disabilities and special accommodations will be made for testing these students and, if they are invited to take part in the program, will be involved in special meetings and activities designed specifically for disabled FLEX students. Over 200 students with disabilities have already studied in the U.S. on this program. If you know of any candidates who meet the disabled student requirements listed below, please invite them to the first round of testing. Please note that these students are evaluated separately from other candidates, so their English skills do not necessarily need to be as advanced as other applicants.

• Currently studying in 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th grades;

Finalists are chosen based on their performance in an open merit-based competition that consists of three rounds of testing. The first and second rounds of testing will be held from early September through mid-October in many regional centers (see testing schedule below). Note that we do not come to every regional center, so interested students from cities where testing is not offered need to determine the testing center closest to their place of residence and take the test there (i.e. – Taraz students will test in Shymkent, Kokshetau students will test in Astana, etc.). The first round will consist of a 15-minute test of English. Applicants must bring proof of eligibility (their passport or original birth certificate), one recent photograph (3x4cm) and a pen with them to the first round in order to register for testing. The results of this test will be posted at the end of the day and those students who pass the first round will be invited to a second round of more intensive English testing, generally on the following day. Round 3 candidates will be determined and contacted to return to the testing center at a later date (ranging from mid-October through early December).
