And he's off! England great Owen wants to jump in the saddle and become a jockey
Retired footballer Michael Owen has revealed he wants to become a jockey.
The former Liverpool and England striker has always been a keen racing fan and owns a yard in Cheshire which is home to more than 100 horses.
But now Owen wants to take his passion a step further by riding in a horse in a fundraising race - which could lead to further rides in the future.
Owen admitted: 'I'd love to ride in a charity race.'
And a source said: 'Everyone knows how keen Michael is on his horse racing.
'He loves being an owner and is so knowledgeable that he may even fancy his chances as a trainer. But he also loves to ride and has a sportsman's attitude in believing he can do anything.
'He's keen to have a ride on a proper racecourse and if he's any good he is bound to want to do it regularly.'....................
