Appeal of Olessya, Nastya's Mom:

Please, help my baby!
I have an eleven month-old daughter, Nastya. My daughter, Anastasya Pavlovna Kanunnikova (full name) was born on time, 7 Dec 2011. She was completely healthy. She weighted 6.92 lbs and her height was 1 ft 7 inches. When she was two months old, she developed focal confluent pneumonia. When she was about four month old her chest began deforming. When she was six months old, she got sick again and we were taken to pulmonology department of Children's City Hospital No.2 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Nastya somehow was diagnosed with Werdnig-Hoffmann disease which is usually lethal. Once Nastya’s lungs were better, we were sent home.
About ten days later, Nastya developed aplace fever 40 C (104 F). Nastya was placed in the intensive care unit in the City Infectious Diseases Hospital No.1. After three months, my baby is still there. She has unstable temperature from 37 to 39 C (98.6-102.2 F) and occasionally up to 40 C (104 F). During this whole time, Nastya has been on a ventilator. X-rays show lung collapse (atelectasis) on the right side. The doctors have treated Nastya with all types of antibiotics that they have. Periodically, she is switched to a breathing tube, but cannot breathe on her own for long periods.
To confirm the diagnosis, we've had two DNA tests in Almaty, Kazakhstan and Moscow, Russia, where both were negative. But Kazakhstani doctors refuse to believe DNA tests and continue to insist that Nastya has an incurable disease. They refuse to provide any treatment other than palliative. We have to take Nastya to a clinic abroad as soon as possible, so she can be properly diagnosed and treated!

At present we need to collect $150,000 to transport Nastya to Korea by air ambulance for proper diagnosis and possible treatment. This amount has to be collected as soon as possible, preferrably before January while Nastya still has a chance. The family is poor. Nastya's mother Olesya grew up in an orphanage and has nobody to help her.
